School year's been great so far. Here's all the awesome stuff that has been happening:

-My game team is really awesome. They're all amazing people. I've made really good friends with the graphics programmer as I'm the animator/rigger for the team; and you know something awesome? We share the same birthday and birth year! Our 21st is coming up so we need to do something awesome. The game itself is amazing too and I love working on it. It combines many of my favorite loves; the 1980's, Robots, and over the top-ness. We have a music guy who is going to make an 1980's theme song for us. I LOVE MY GAME TEAM! I'm making a gun for them that shoots mullets.

-I almost got an internship at Zombie. They emailed me and asked for a resume (homg) and said they really liked my portfolio! They're an Unreal/Maya studio so they really liked the fact that I was proficient in both. They said they'd love to interview me for an asset modeling position. For everyone who knows me you probably are aware that animation is my thing... They were really nice and said that they might have animation positions open next semester or during the summer, so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

-Freelance stuff! I'm not under an NDA so I can talk about it. Me and are working for a small business owner, making him a 30 second TV ad. He wants it to be done in flash, in the style of patapon/insanely twisted shadow puppets. The subject matter involves robots destroying cities, flying saucers and pizza. I'm animating to pre-made audio and working on storyboards for it. My partner in crime, lemdrop is making sweet character designs atm and also is going crit my storyboards until they are awesome. This project super fun and I love working with lemdrop since lemdrop has so many amazing ideas and knows how to kick my ass if I'm sucking.

-I'm running my school's LBGTA (lesbian gay bisexual transgender and allies) group and so far we've had some great ideas. This is a group that lemdrop started last year and that I'm continuing since lemdrop graduated. The support group sessions have been going well, and we've come up with some great ideas including an awareness month. I'm also the student rep for WIGE, since the admin who was running it wanted it to be more student run. She still leads the meetings thankfully but I've done the paperwork for the club so far.

-Junior projects. I'm not as pumped for it since all of the ideas I was passionate about got thrown to the curb, but so long as I can get good animation out of it then that's all that matters. Nice, frantic, arthritic alcoholic old woman animation. It's less exciting since I'm having difficulty getting into the project but I've already learned a lot, and that's all that is important.

I'm so glad this year has started out better than last year. Fall semester 08 I was having severe financial woes due to my financial aid coming in late October, had two relatives die and a close friend of mine was murdered- someone I had known since kindergarten. Even though I am busier and more stressed this semester I find myself feeling much happier, optimistic and fulfilled. I've also been seeing my art improve by leaps and bounds. I love my work so much.
